Botanical description
Anthurium 'Dark Phoenix' has a complicated history full of ambiguities. Originally marketed as a hybrid between papilillaminum and dressleria, closer examination shows that this is probably not true. No typical dressleria traits such as star-shaped stems are found in Dark Phoenix. Instead, it resembles pure forms of Anthurium papilillaminum so closely that experts now believe that is what it actually is.
The name "Dark Phoenix" came from Indonesia around 2020 and has become more of a cultural common name for plants that look this way.
Care
Like most velvet-leaved Anthurium varieties.
Bright, indirect light to preserve the velvety texture. High humidity (60-80%). Well-drained, airy soil mix with even moisture, e.g. our aroid soil . A temperature around 18-26°C. The pot should have many drainage holes as the roots otherwise risk rotting, orchid pots are perfect.
The velvety surface is sensitive to direct sun which can burn the leaves.
